Australia – June 18 to 24, 2007. Yellow人 embarked on its first road trip Down Under, a 2-city tour covering Melbourne and Brisbane. More than just concert tours, Yellowren sees them as missions trips to impact Asian communities with music and message that speak of the relevance of faith in today’s society. Much effort and hard work had been put into the organising of these concerts and the partnership with various local churches and organisations particularly The Promise Church in Melbourne and CVC Network Ltd in Brisbane had significantly ignited the vision of Yellowren Productions.

Publicity began as early as May with the appearance of eye-catching ads of Yellow人 on Christian magazines, student newsletters and local Mandarin newspapers such as the Queensland Chinese Daily where the ads occupied half-a-page on its front page. Christian Publications such as Sameway Magazine featured articles on Yellow人 and radio interviews with Yellow人 were also aired on CVC’s website.

Although relatively unknown in Australia, Yellow人 was blessed by the fantastic turn out of the Asian Communities with different nationalities who came and gave their support. Pastor Tom Koh, Senior Pastor of The Promise Church, shared that this was the first mega project that saw the wonderful collaboration and unity of the Chinese churches in Melbourne. Known as a city with 4 seasons in a day, we were thankful that the weather in Melbourne was not a hindrance. Apparently, the tickets were all snapped up way before the concert. For the crowd who packed Alexander Theatre at Monash University, the trio gave an outstanding performance with heartfelt rendition of emotive songs and candid testimonies. Many responded to the altar call and it was wonderful to see an unchurched youth who had won an ipod shuffle during the interlude, boldly stepping out to come into a personal relationship with God. We were tremendously blessed by our friendship with Pastor Tom, Pastor Yvonne and their children, Ian & Shawn, who had been such great help in Melbourne.

One could sense God’s wonderful presence throughout the trip – the additional graces that the group received to overcome the hectic schedule, the wintry season, the adjustment to the venues, the people, the AV equipments, the lack of sleep etc. We must also thank God for the wonderful friends in Brisbane – Jin Kheng and Alice for their generous hospitality and great encouragement. We were also very blessed by CVC Network and the partnering churches in Brisbane, especially Angela Chen (Senior Producer, CVC Network) who had been a wonderful host and organizer. We had almost perfect weather in Brisbane except for the concert day when it rained which was a welcomed blessing to a city facing a drought. Not daunted by the rain, more than 700 came and packed the sanctuary of Redeemer College. The terrific response of the crowd was encouraging. Some young people even stood at the aisles, waving their light sticks in the air enthusiastically in their show of support. Once again, Yellow人 gave an outstanding performance of songs and testimonies that inspired and touched the hearts of many including the unchurched who stepped out of their seats to come into a personal relationship with God. The positive feedback received at the end of the concert that makes Destination Down Under, a trip so worthwhile and rewarding because lives had been impacted and changed!
