Singapore – June 20, 2009. Yellowren trio, Chan Mong Yee, Zhang Zhi Gang and Dayna Lim were invited to be part of the panel of distinguished judges for One Loves’s Got Talent, a competition that was organised in conjunction with the Love Awakening’s Inaugural Conference to encourage a new generation of youths to develop and use their talents for the Kingdom of God. The finals of the competition took place on 20 June 2009 at the Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church with 7 groups of finalists from various churches competing to be the winner. One can feel the bubbling energy, excitement and enthusiasm of the participants and their encouraging crowd of supporters, as they got ready for the showdown.

The programme kicked off with a surprise element from one of the youths in the organising committee. Crooning the famous Chinese Pop hit “Lao Su Ai Da Mi” translated as “Mice love rice,” he adapted it with a comical twist and surprised his girlfriend of 8 years with a marriage proposal. He even presented her with a ring on stage when she said “Yes” with cheers and rapturous applause from all around. This was then followed with a performance from YellowRen that was well-received by the audience. The trio kicked off with the energetic song of Tree63 “Look What You Have Done For Me” with the audience standing to their feet and clapping along. The next song, “Heaven” was beautifully sung by Dayna reminding the audience that earth is our temporary home but there awaits us a better place and this was also poignantly echoed in the main title track “Destination” performed by Mong Yee with Ricky Ho accompanying her on the keyboard. The audience deeply appreciated the performance of the trio that gave credence to their role as judges.

The competition kicked off with a group of about 20 youngsters from Renewal Church who ‘wowed’ the audience with a hand pantomime choreographed to the popular hit song “Power of Your Love.” After each performance, the judges took turns to give some encouraging words and pointers to the participants. We also spotted some talented singing sensation including one male contestant impersonating “Jay Chou Jie Lun.” However, the highlight of the competition went to “Xiao Mi Mi”, a group of Ah Go Go dancers with their male lead from En Community Church who brought the house down with their feisty and gutsy hilarious choreography of Lim Gee Tiong’s Hokkien song that captured the votes of all the judges to emerge the champion of One Love’s Got Talent.
